WASHINGTON – The office of former President George H.W. Bush has announced the official schedule of President Bush’s state funeral and the related services and ceremonies scheduled in Houston, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Spring, and College Station, Texas.
The body of former President George HW Bush will depart Ellington Field south of Houston, at 10:30 Monday morning. A plane used as Air Force One will transport the body to Joint Base Andrews, where an arrival ceremony and other activities will take place prior to his body being taken to the Capital to lie in state.
From there, President Bush’s remains will be taken to the National Cathedral on Wednesday for an official state funeral at 11:00 a.m. eastern time on Wednesday.
Following his state funeral, his body will Be flown back to Ellington field in Houston, where local memorials will take place.
President Bush’s body will then lie in repose at his home church, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church for about 11 hours, ending at 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning. At 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, there will be a funeral service at St. Martins.
Following the funeral at St. Martins, the President’s body will be taken by train to College Station, Texas where at 3:45 Thursday there will be an arrival ceremony at Texas A&M University followed by his internment at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, next to his wife, Barbara Pierce Bush.
