A major earthquake has rocked a region near the Mexico border with Guatemala Friday morning.
Officials say that the 6.6 magnitude quake was centered just off the Mexican/Guatemalan coastline near Tapachula in the Mexican state of Chiapas.
The quake was so strong the reports of buildings swaying and broken glass are coming in from as far away as Mexico City.
The USGS says that the earthquake was centered some 40 miles deep.
Officials say that impacts to the western coast of the United States are not expected, including tsunami warnings.
Texas Take’s John Paul Robles is in Mexico City working on this developing story.
