Run Off Required For Texas HD 125

San Antonio–Democrat Ray Lopez and Republican Fred Rangel will go Head to Head in a runoff election for San Antonio’s state House District 125 seat vacated by Democrat Justin Rodriguez.

Rodriguez resigned the seat to accept appointment to the Bexar County Commissioners Court.

With all precincts reporting, unofficial final totals gave Rangel 38 percent of the vote to Lopez’s 19.41 percent, narrowly edging Democrat Coda Rayo-Garza’s 19.05 percent.

Democrat Arthur Reyna finished fourth with 17 percent, while Democrat Steve Huerta scored 6 percent.

Gov. Greg Abbott, who has been fairly vocal in the race has yet to set a date for the runoff. Abbott threw his support for the Republican Rangel, who should win the seat however, not handily.
